This is a superb ensemble of a set of 6 antique French enamelled kitchen storage jars, a matching salt container and an egg basket dating from the early to mid 1900's. The enamelware has a stunning red and white check design and the egg basket matches perfectly.
The set of 6 storage jars graduate in size and have lift off lids. They will fit inside each other when not in use. Each is labelled with it's requisite content :- Poivre, Chicorée, Pâtes, Café, Farine & Sucre.
They make a very decorative set and are full of shabby chic charm. As one can expect after years of use there is some distressing to the enamel but this does not detract from either their charm or usefulness.
They are larger than most of this type and graduate in size from :-
Smallest - Height 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) x Diameter 7 cm (2.75 inches) to
Largest - Height 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) x Diameter 12 cm (4.75 inches)
These sizes are with the lids on.
The matching salt container has a lift up hinged lid. It has a slot on the back to hang on a wall. It too has a little distressing to the enamel and there is a touch of rust to the back right hand corner.
It measures:- 22 cm (8.5 inches high) x 15 cm (6 inches) wide x 9 cm (3.5 inches) deep.
Finally we have the cute wire egg basket, which is absolutely charming. It measures :- 21 cm (8.25 inches) high and is 20 cm (8 inches) in diameter at the top.
A superb ensemble to transform a kitchen shelf into an authentic vintage French haven. It is from a carefully selected collection of vintage & antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
