B1459 - Amazing Antique French Painted Wax Wall Plaque, Church Cherub / Angel / Putti

This is an amazing antique French painted wax plaque of a cherub dating from the early 1900's.  It is a very decorative piece and would make a stunning addition to a display.

The plaque has been finely moulded in wax and expertly painted to look like an 18th Century carved wood church cherub. It has been signed.

The cherub has a cheeky face and the classic rosy cheeks, snub nose and curly hair. His face is framed by his wings. His eyes are a beautiful shade of aqua. The colour palette perfectly captures the atmospheric antiquity of the original. The wax is finely moulded to emulate the texture of the wood and the carved detail of the wings.

There is a string loop on the back for hanging on a wall.

The plaque is in excellent antique condition.

It measures :- 19.5 cms (7.75 inches) wide x 8.5 cms (3.3 inches) high x 4 cms (1.5 inches) deep.
