B2191 - Fabulous Antique French Repousse / Toleware Rococo Style Cushion Mirror 19th Century

This is a fabulous antique French repoussé cushion mirror dating from the Napoleon III era circa 1860. It would certainly add an atmospheric château chic finishing touch to an interior.

It is in the Rococo style and is very decorative. It has a shell crest with fruits and scrolls beneath.

The central mirror plate is bevelled. This and the mirror plates to the sides of the 'cushion' have some minor foxing.

The mirror is in sturdy condition but not surprisingly, considering it's age it does have some characteristics. There are one or two knocks to the toleware (please see photos) and the gilding has worn to an atmospheric dark patina. The wooden back has had some worm but that is now stable. 

The mirror measures :- 63.5 cm (25 inches) high x 37.5 cm (14.7 inches) wide.
