B2214 - SOLDThis is a superb enormous vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from the early to mid 1900's. It's sheer size sets it apart from others. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in either a country house home or a hyper modern apartment. The scene is a beautiful rural vista with a river running through the centre. In the background is a village on a hill. Four magnificent trees dominate the foreground beneath which is more fabulous vegetation. Around this splendour is a sewn border with a scrolled acanthus leaf design. The colours are subtle shades of green and brown. The tapestry is woven in cotton. There are rings sewn at the back for hanging purposes. It is in good vintage condition. There is just one area of fading on the border at the bottom at the right hand side (please see photos). The tapestry measures :- 350 cm (11 ft 5.7 inches) wide x 184 cm (6 ft 0.4 inches) high. A fantastic huge tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'. N.B. - The clips and pole we have used to hang the tapestry are not included. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
