This is an impressive pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 19th Century. They are of good size and weight, each one weighing over half a kilo, and would be suitable to hold back a substantial pair of château curtains.

The fascia of the hook has a layered acanthus leaf design with a scroll to either side.

The gilding has mellowed over the years to a dramatic patina.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook.

They each measure :- H 18.5 cm (7.25 inches) x W 5 cm (2 inches) x D 14.5 cm (5.7 inches).

A superb pair of tie backs to add a château chic statement and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
