B2196 - Magnificent HUGE Vintage French Verdure Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, Panel

This is a magnificent huge vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating mid 1900's. It's sheer size sets it apart from other tapestries. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful rural vista with a river running through centre. In the background is a village on a hill. Magnificent trees dominate the foreground beneath which is fabulous vegetation. 

The colours are shades of greens, teals and browns. 

The tapestry is woven in cotton. The top and bottom edges are formed by the selvedge of the tapestry. The right hand edge as one looks at the tapestry has a border and selvedge, the left hand edge has been cut. 

The tapestry is in good vintage condition. In our opinion it could be hung as it is or the edges could be addressed.

It measures :- 259 cm (8 ft 5.9 inches) wide x 176 cm (5 ft 9.2 inches) high.
