B2197 - Superb Vintage French Tapestry Wall Hanging, 18th Century Rural Hunting Scene

This is a superb vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating around the mid 1900's. It has a rural hunting scene and is after an 18th Century Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is set in a fabulous wood with stunning trees and a river.  A magnificent stag and a wolf have been surrounded by hunting dogs. They are accompanied by mounted huntsmen. All around is lush vegetation and fabulous trees. There is a château in the background.

A border frames this stunning scene.

The colours are subtle shades of ochres, browns and greens, gently faded with the passage of time. 

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is lined and has tabs at the top to take a pole.

It is in good vintage condition, it has not been dry cleaned.

It measures :- 199 cm (6 ft 6.3 inches) wide x 82 cm (2 ft 8.2 inches) high not including the tabs. The tabs are 6 cm ( 2.3 inches) high.
