B2084 - Superb Antique French Porcelain Virgin Mary On Plinth With Flowers Napoleon III

Dating from the Napoleon III period (C 1860) this gorgeous antique French plinth would have originally been displayed below a glass dome. The dome has long gone but this superb timeworn religious piece remains fabulously decorative.

The stand has an oval wooden base sitting on 4 little round feet. In the centre of the stand is a porcelain figurine of the Virgin Mary secured to the plinth with a metal bolt. Mary stands on a podium, her gown is white with gilded highlights.

Around Mary is a fabulous halo of white fabric and silvered metallic leaves and flowers. Among them is a little pendant with the image of St. Therese.

Despite it's timeworn appearance the stand is sturdy and Mary is in good condition. The wooden stand has had a little worm over the years and it's paint has distressed in places.

The stand measures:- approx. 44 cm (17.3 inches) high to the top of the leaves x 28 cm (11 inches) wide x 16.75 cm (6.59 inches) deep.
