B2146 - Superb Pair Large Antique French Gilded Empire Style Curtain Tie / Hold Backs

This is a superb pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

They are substantial pieces of good quality and weight with excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

They are made in the Empire style. The fascia of the hook has a beautiful acanthus leaf crest. The back of the hook has an acanthus leaf flourish.

The gilding on the metal has mellowed over the years while still retaining golden highlights which catch the light beautifully.

The tie backs have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure approx :- H 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) x W 7 cm (2.7 inches) x D 16 cm (6.3 inches).
