This is a superb vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid to late 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene has a castellated château and a village in the background. A river wends it's way from the village to the foreground. All around are beautiful trees and lush vegetation.

A scrolled leaf sewn border frames this stunning scene.

The colours are shades of brown, green & ochre. 

The tapestry is finely woven in cotton. It is lined and has metal rings sewn on the back for hanging purposes. 

It is in good vintage condition.

The tapestry measures :- 144 cm (4 ft 8.6 inches) wide x 104 cm (3 ft 4.9 inches) high.

A superb verdure tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French textiles and decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
