B2199 - Fabulous Large Vintage French Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, 16th Century Hunting Scene

This is a fabulous vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It depicts a 16th Century hunting scene. It is very large and would make an impressive feature in a room. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

It is very heavy and is of superb quality. It is woven in cotton in sumptuous texture.  The colours are bright and beautiful and the detail is astonishing.

It depicts a stunning scene of a gathering of ladies and gentlemen at a hunt. They are riding fine steeds and are accompanied by magnificent dogs straining at the leash.

They are all superbly dressed. The men wear padded tunics and breeches. The ladies wear heavy cloaks and gorgeous full skirted gowns with tight bodices. They all have starched ruffs at their necks and plumed hats.

The colours in the tapestry are superb and have not faded with the passage of time. The clothes are in gorgeous vibrant shades of red, pink and blue. The scenery is in fabulous shades of green and ochre with touches of red.

The tapestry is in very good vintage condition.

It measures :- 205 cm (6 ft 8.7 inches) wide x 146 cm (4 ft 9.4 inches) high.
