B2210 - SOLDThis is a truly spectacular long vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from mid 1900's. It is entitled 'Fôret de Clairmarais' and is after a 17th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look stunning in a country house home. The scene is dominated by two fabulous trees and lush vegetation to the foreground. In the background are mountains from which a river wends it's way. There is a bridge over the river and a folly. Around this splendour is a sewn scrolled leaf border. The colours are rich ochres, greens, browns, teals and blue. The tapestry is woven in cotton and is lined. It has a pocket at the back to take a pole. There are also metal fixtures for hanging on hooks. It is in good vintage condition. There is just some paint on the label at the back. The tapestry measures :- 270 cm (8 ft 10.2 inches) high x 154 cm (5 ft 0.6 inches) wide. A fabulous tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room.
